Despite the gap between big releases, anyone daftar devil138 who is a fan of 100-plus hour RPGs ate incredibly well this year. Heck, you’re likely still grinding on at least a few of these games. The Duality Dice supply a steady drip of Hope and Fear points. It was nice to stock these points if a dice roll didn’t have a clever twist I could use.
Although at the heart of it all is a very pacifist ideology, that celebrates the power of love and the need for empathy without ever seeming mawkish or patronising. And while also paying homage to old school Japanese role-players and having a cracking soundtrack. The problem is that the strategy elements are shallow and underplayed and while the game is fun and interestingly weird, it really doesn’t add up to much.

Offers a sci-fi Civilization-like experience on a real life scale. We rank every game in the Assassin’s Creed franchise—including this week’s new game Assassin’s Creed Shadows—from worst to best based on Metascore.
Instead, all you have to do is compare the Switch 2’s display to devices of this size and price. Even if the screen is LCD, the Switch 2 has a larger, brighter, and better-looking display than many other LCD-based handhelds that cost more. Yes, once you go OLED, it’s hard to go back, but when you’re in the thick of a game, whether or not blacks are dark grays isn’t going to be what breaks any suspension of disbelief. Oh, and don’t peel off the screen’s protective plastic layer or you might just shatter the whole thing. Actually getting into Switch 2 games is more enjoyable than maneuvering around Nintendo’s fascination with digital rights management, or DRM.
It’s a fun feeling to tell the players you’ve spent a few points on something wicked, then watch them sweat for a few moments before you reveal what it is. The skill ceiling in Rematch seems almost limitless, and I just know that pro-level players are going to put together some incredible Messi-like passages of play, making the rest of us look like Ali Dia (kudos to you, if you got that reference). But rather than this high level of mechanical complexity being off-putting, it’s a huge part of the reason I desperately want to play more.
The good news is that even at low settings Avowed is gorgeous, though low-quality shadows were a little over-obvious in places, and distant reflective surfaces acquire a weird opaque texture. The grimoire is fun for all the flashing lights and mystical effects it conjures, but if magical pew-pew is more your bag there are wands too. Pistols and arquebuses are present too with all the slow reloading that entails, and so are bows. These conventional weapons have unlimited ammo, probably for magical reasons, but grimoires need essence (basically mana, in this context). Whichever route is taken, high mobility is key, standing still is death, and my envoy’s impressive parkour abilities proved useful when manoeuvring around the hordes.
Players who want high stakes drama while also busting out the minis for a fight will find a lot to love here. The game offers worldbuilding advice for session zero and encourages the GM to ask the players to develop the world in play. The game includes some blank maps for the group to fill in together to get started. Fear points let the GM put some nasty twists in the narrative. They can interrupt players, add bad guys to the scene and activate special attacks.
Finalmouse Ulx Prophecy Review: This 38g Wireless Mouse Comes With 8k Polling And A £150 Price Tag
Battery hero A great everyday headset that’s certainly worth the price tag. MercurySteam makes its bold return with Blades of Fire, a Soulslike with some revolutionary mechanics but some serious pacing issues. A near-perfect merging of FromSoftware game design and roguelike structure, Elden Ring Nightreign is a bold experiment and one of 2025’s highlights. New single-person studio Stelleas announced its first project, Stellar Reach today.
Sniper Elite: Resistance Review
Playing a graphics-intensive game like Cyberpunk 2077, we ran out of juice at exactly two hours. The Steam Deck OLED will do slightly better on battery life overall, but you’d have to look at $800 handhelds like the Asus ROG Ally X with its bigger battery capacity for anything better. Future versions of the Switch 2 may improve on battery life, but Nintendo would likely charge more for that, like they did with the Switch OLED. You can improve battery life by limiting refresh rate and HDR, but let’s be honest, most of us would prefer a higher-quality experience over playing for longer. If you’re noticing really poor battery life and think something might be up, you may need to put the Switch 2 into “recovery mode,” which should reset the battery indicator so that it’s actually accurate.
Take-Two didn’t send out review copies for this game and given there’s only two reviews on Metacritic we’re guessing that was the same for everyone. It’s a shame, because the PC-orientated design is perfect for showing off the Switch 2’s mouse controls, but we’ve no idea how well it does or doesn’t work. The Metacritic scores are 60 and 70 though, so that doesn’t sound too promising. Mind you, the original PC version wasn’t great either and while that will likely change over time here’s our launch review. There are lots of other modes beyond just that, including one that adds minor role-playing elements, so it’s perhaps no surprise that the only other thing they could think of for the Switch 2 version is a new 2v2 option. Apart from that, a resolution bump, and mouse controls (which don’t work at all well) this is the exact same game that’s already available on the Switch and, like Sonic X Shadow Generations, there’s no upgrade option, if you already own the previous version.
Instead, it gives the impression of a game released in early access with many problems. Inspired by old-school RTS games, Tempest Rising has its own unique style that manages to shine through all the nostalgia and comparisons to classics of the genre. With its impressive visuals and solid performance, Sonic x Shadow Generations feels right at home on Switch 2. Street Fighter 6 is fantastic on Switch 2, with only reduced performance in World Tour mode really letting it down.
Packed with new tracks and modes, it’s another Mario Kart you’ll want to own. Gorgeous, fast-paced and exhilarating, we’ve had a fantastic time playing through this Lost in Random roguelike spin-off. Captain Blood may seem like a nice throwback to hack and slash games of the past, but it really feels like an outdated experience in 2025. While there’s a lot to love about Sifu developer Sloclap’s new multiplayer soccer game Rematch, it scores a few own goals.

I never felt constrained as the GM by Fear, knowing that I could save up a stack to make the final combat more epic. For those groups who want a little more guidance, there are a handful of campaign frames as examples of settings where Daggerheart shines. There are a few fantasy ones but the genres also dip into technomagical science fiction and weird westerns. They also contain some rules that groups can use for their original worlds, such as cooking monsters, crafting weapons and gear and adding firearms into the mix. Here, external walls and flooring all snap together nicely, while the inside of your home requires a bit more finicky work to get things to fit just right. If you do run into problems, the system itself is quite forgiving, and it’s easy enough to modify your floor plan to fit more appliances if things get a little tight.
